Cesarean Expectations and Tour

Women who are having a scheduled Cesarean Section can learn what to expect from their hospital stay and tips for maintaining good health after surgery. A tour of the Maternal-Child unit is provided.

Feeling Beautiful

Getting Through the Holidays

Good Grief Workshop

This workshop is designed to assist those who are trying to cope with the loss of a loved one during the end of the year. The discussion focuses on dealing with holiday traditions, rituals, re-adjustments and coping strategies. Light refreshments served. Sponsored by WVU Medicine Hospice

Let’s Talk to Kids About Cancer

Lung Cancer Screening

Low-dose CT (LDCT) screening for lung cancer requires a referral from your doctor. Talk to your doctor about your risk for the disease and discuss your eligibility for screening.

Smoking Cessation Group

A group for those needing support to stop smoking using the ACS program, Fresh Start. To register or for more information, call Gretchen Hennigen at 681.342.1793 or Amber Shearer at 681.342.1796.

Vascular Screening

Reduce your risk of vascular disease. UHC is now offering Vascular Ultrasound Screenings. Available screenings include:
  • Carotid Artery which screens for carotid artery blockage caused by excessive plaque, the #1 cause of stroke
  • Abdominal Aorta which screens for an aortic aneurysm (AAA) that can cause a ruptured aorta
  • Lower Extremity Arteries which screens for peripheral arterial disease, a risk factor for coronary artery disease.
All screenings are non-invasive and painless. Screenings will be conducted by sonographers and results interpreted by a physician specialist.
When: By appointment only.
Location: UHC’s Diagnostic Services Department
Fee: $35 per screening or all three for $90
